20 years of Paradiski
Paradiski is one of the largest ski areas in Europe located in the French Alps. It encompasses three major ski resorts: Les Arcs, La Plagne and Peisey-Vallandry. With over 425 kilometers of ski and snowboard runs, Paradiski offers an incredible variety of terrain, difficulty levels and mountain landscapes to explore.
In 2003, the resorts of La Plagne, Les Arcs and Peisey-Vallandry welcomed the Vanoise Express, the cable car which connects Les Arcs and La Plagne in just a few minutes, providing easy access to the entire ski area. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, Paradiski offers many winter activities, such as snowshoeing, paragliding, cross-country skiing, and much more.
A visionary project
The Vanoise Express project was born out of a very specific need: to connect the three slopes of La Plagne, Les Arcs, and Peisey-Vallandry. The Isère-based company Poma, in collaboration with the engineering firm Denis Creissels, took on the challenge.
The Vanoise Express was inaugurated in January 2004 and is one of the largest cable cars in the world. It consists of two double-decker cabins with transparent floors for admiring the landscape. Each cabin can carry 200 passengers, and the crossing takes only 3 minutes and 50 seconds over a distance of 1850 meters, which equates to approximately 2000 passengers per hour in each direction. This cable car also boasts a world record speed of 45 km/h.
The departure station, called the "motrice" station, is located at Plan-Peisey at an altitude of 1612 meters, while the arrival station, known as the "tension" station, is situated at an altitude of 1548 meters in Montchavin-les-Coches.
The Paradiski Pass
When you stay in La Plagne, our agency offers two types of passes: the La Plagne area pass and the Paradiski area pass. The La Plagne pass give you access to the slopes of La Plagne, Montalbert, Champagny-en-Vanoise, and Montchavin. The Paradiski pass provides access to the La Plagne and Les Arcs – Peisey-Valandry resorts. For 6 and 7 days passes, Paradiski offers a free half-day (valid the day before the first day of skiing from 12:30 pm). The Yuge App
In 2015, the Yuge app was created to accompany skiers and snowboarders during their outings on the slopes. Today, there are over 700,000 users of this app (available for iOS and Android).
Yuge allows you to track your performance on the slopes in real time and provides orientation assistance through its interactive map. It provides weather information and snow conditions for the ski area, as well as photos and videos taken on the ski slopes (chairlifts, super slalom, etc.).

Fun Facts about the Vanoise Express
- In 2013, the Vanoise Express celebrated its 10th anniversary. For the occasion, fashion designer Castelbajac had “carte blanche” to decorate the cable car. Throughout the 2013/2014 winter season, passengers could travel in a whimsically decorated cable car.
- In the same year, 2013, two French highliners crossed the Vanoise Express. This discipline involves moving on a slackline at a high altitude, usually with safety equipment in case of a fall.
- In 2015, a fzmous chef from the region, Stéphane Froidevaux, invited 36 guests to enjoy a dinner aboard the Vanoise Express. Suspended at 380 meters, the participants, all of whom were randomly selected from the station's clients, savored a delicious meal in an elegant setting.
- The technology of the Vanoise Express has inspired the world, including the city of New York, to replace the Roosevelt Island cable car over the East River, connecting Manhattan to Roosevelt Island.
