Opening of the new glacier gondola

La Plagne has made its reputation thanks to its huge ski area. Indeed, 70% of the slopes are located at an altitude of more than 2000m, which guarantees you fantastic landscapes and sensations.
With the Paradiski ski pass, you will have access to the entire ski area of La Plagne and Les Arcs. You will enjoy 400km of slopes including funslopes, snowparks, airbags and many other surprises.

Last year, we were able to attend the inauguration of the new chairlift of La Lovatière. This new 6-seater lift links the Plagne Centre snow front to the top of the Verdon Nord chairlift.
Now, the “Société d'Aménagement de la Plagne” (SAP) has a new project called LIVE3000. The aim is to facilitate the access to the glaciers for skiing at altitude of over 3000m.

First of all, the SAP has set up a new 10-seater gondola from the Roche de Mio, passing through an intermediate station on the Col de la Chiaupe and arriving at an altitude of over 3000m.
The constructions began in the summer of 2021, continued in the summer of 2022 and will be finished in December 2023. In addition, the SAP also wants to develop an area in this glacier to offer a unique experience at altitude with a breathtaking panorama, both in summer and in winter.

In a second phase, and still with the aim of improving access to the glacier, SAP is currently studying the renovation of the Roche de Mio cable car. However, the constructions of this project could be started in few months, for an opening in December 2025.

These projects also have a second common objective. The mountains are suffering from the effects of global warming. The melting of the glaciers and permafrost (the frozen part of the mountain below the surface of the ground) is causing ground movements that impact the Traversée chairlift. The SAP estimates that in the short to medium term the Glacier chairlift won’t be able to operate. The works are therefore a necessity and in a short time you will be able to discover the incredible landscapes offered at 3000m altitude.

Follow us on our social networks to be informed of the progress of the constructions. We look forward to seeing you on the snowy slopes of La Plagne.
